In 1891, Alexander Fraser, a local lawyer and magistrate, constructed the original house on this magnificent site overlooking the Niagara River and Gorge. Constructed with quality materials on a layer of bedrock, the home has retained its strength and character throughout the subsequent decades. Fraser and his family occupied the house until his death in 1942.
From 1942 to 1961, the Gracie family lived in this classic version of an Eastlake Victorian home.
In 1961, Elvira and Peter Van Kleef purchased the home and began the Bed & Breakfast business known as the “Eastwood Tourist Lodge”. As tourism continued to grow in Niagara, so would the Eastwood Tourist Lodge! With the success of their operation, the Van Kleef's expanded the building with a 6 unit addition in 1977 thereby bringing the total number of units to 9. Eastwood Tourist Lodge was a roaring success and with the onset of age, Elvira and Peter transitioned the business down to their son and daughter in law in the early 1990’s.
Gerry and Joanne Van Kleef operated the B&B until their untimely deaths in 2010 and 2011. Sadly, this wonderful building was closed between 2009 and 2014 and was falling into disrepair. In the spring of 2014, the revitalization of the home began again when John & Isabella Pinter purchased the property and immediately commenced the renovation process.
June 30, 2020 marks the end to the final phase of construction at Eastwood Tourist Lodge. Now known as Niagara Grandview Manor and featuring the architecture of a grand Victorian hotel, the Inn now features interior corridors and private balconies overlooking the Niagara Gorge.
Choose from deluxe king rooms or large family suites at the rooftop level with 12’ to 16’ ceilings. The addition of a full commercial kitchen, meeting rooms, and the acquisition of additional adjacent vacation rentals has made the Niagara Historic Inns operation a fabulous success capable of supporting groups in excess of 100 persons.
Located just 4 doors away from our main building, Niagara Grandview Manor, this deluxe villa built in 1912 sits high atop the ridge overlooking the Niagara Gorge. Recently renovated, this home is bright throughout and offers guests front and rear patios and two sunrooms. This home is typical of the Arts and Craft style homes of the period with large oak baseboards, natural oak window and door moldings, leaded glass windows, interior arches, front porch vestibule.
The home comfortably sleeps 8 persons in a total of 4 bedrooms (1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed, 1 Queen Bed and finally a room with 1 Double Bed and 1 Single Bed) and is service by a two second floor bathrooms and a 3 piece bathroom with shower on the main floor. The home is centrally heated and central air-conditioned.
Located directly adjacent to our main building, this four bedroom home sleeps a total of 8 persons (4 queen beds) and is serviced by a single bathroom. The home offers warm décor and provides a welcoming feel to your group or extended family gatherings. Built in 1925, Eastwood Tourist Lodge is typical of the Arts and Craft style homes of the period with large oak baseboards, wide window and door moldings, leaded glass windows, and electric fireplace.
Breakfast is a wonderful time of day and is served in our adjacent property Niagara Grandview Manor where guests can select to have their breakfast in either the formal dining area, adjacent verandah, or garden level patio.
Niagara Riverview Inn is literally the closest Vacation Rental to the Falls. The home sits majestically atop a hill on River Road overlooking the mighty Niagara River and Gorge. It’s a short 10 minute walk to the Falls and the front windows all have a view of the Niagara Gorge.
This 3 bedroom rental sleeps a total of 6 persons and comes complete with a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast courtesy of Chef Joseph Hughes and is served in our main Niagara Grandview Manor building located just five doors away. The home features central heat and air-conditioning, carpeted and hardwood floors, complimentary wifi, and numerous patios for relaxation.
